Racing the Fury In the U.K., the Fury holds the lap record in Kit Car Race series for Brands Hatch, Mallory, Cadwell and Lydden Hill circuits. The motorcycle-engined variants do very well in the 750MC bike-engine classes, with Furies making up a sizable portion of the entries. How the Fury will fit into SCCA club racing remains to be seen. The SCCA is notoriously stodgy about allowing new entries, especially where they might affect the competitiveness of existing cars. While a Fury would dominate comparable small roadsters, it's quite unlikely that the SCCA would dare to upset the Miata apple cart. Depending on drivetrain, a Fury could run in one of the sports racer classes. Unfortunately, without aerodynamics and wide racing slicks, there wouldn't be much hope for a street legal Fury. There is also a possibility that the Fury could run in E or F Production, along with other Lotus Seven replicas. Under the skin, the Fury is a close cousin of the Lotus. Again, with the SCCA, politics often takes precedence over racing, so we'll have to wait and see… |
